Samastha Kerala Sunni Students Federation
The idea of a students’ organisation for Samastha Kerala Jem-Iyyathul Ulama
was in the discussions right from the 1950s. There was an organisation
called Samastha Kerala Jem-Iyyathu Thwalaba with C H Abdurrahman
Musaliyar ibn Qutbi as its president. There are references about the meeting
of the organisation held in 1958 in Vadakara and in 1961 in Kakkad. Discussions
on the relevance of a students’ organisation became alive with the publication on the
topic in the Sunni Times weekly. In 1972, the Mujahids started a students’ organisation
called Mujahid Students’ Movement (MSM). This intensified the necessity of
an organisation to counter the move and there were active discussions in ‘Noorul
Ulama’, the publication of the students of the Jamia Nooriyya.
